成語故事工作篇:東道主人

春秋時代，晉國邀約秦國一起出兵攻打鄭國，鄭王聽到這個風聲後，想想自己是沒辦法抵禦這兩個大國，於是心中非常恐懼，這時鄭國的一位大夫佚之狐就建議，派老臣燭之武去遊說秦王，因為燭之武口才好，鄭王很誠懇地懇請燭之武為國家效力，終於感動了燭之武，於是整裝待發後前往秦國，到秦國後燭之武被守將攔阻，見不到秦王，眼看著時間慢慢的過，太陽都下山了，於是他就放聲大哭，這時士兵才把他帶到秦王面前，問他哭的原因，他說：「鄭國在晉國的東邊，秦國在晉國西邊，如果晉國佔領了鄭國疆土擴展，秦國也就很危險了，所以我為鄭秦兩國而哭，秦王聽完後點點頭，覺得很有道理，他繼續接著說，如果秦國放棄攻打鄭國，鄭國願意做東邊道上的主人，招待來鄭國的秦人，秦王終於被說動撤兵

由於燭之武的機智成功的，解除了鄭國的危機，此典故出自左傳

成語“東道主人“因為鄭國在秦國東邊，所以自稱東道上的主人。現在引申主人；如房東、店東、做東等。或指宴會中的主人。亦作東道，或東道主。

生活應用例句:

He went on to say that if Qin Guo gave up attacking Zheng Guo, Zheng Guo would be the master of the East Side and entertain the Qin people of Zheng Guo. Qin Wang was finally to be Convinced.

Thanks to Awu’s wisdom, Qin Wang is finally willing to retreat, the crisis of Zheng Guo was lifted. This allusion was from Zuo Zhuan.

The idiom "東道主人 (Dōng dào zhǔ rén)" because Zheng Guo is on the east side of Qin State,  he claims to be the owner of the host. Now lead the owner; such as the landlord. Or the owner of the banquet. Also as a host, or host.
